The Qualifying Individual (QI-1) Program

The QI-1 program which pays the Medicare Part B premium for people with incomes between 120 to 135 percent of poverty level has been extended through December 31, 2009.

Nationwide there are over 156,000 people with Medicare who could benefit from the QI-1 program. The average benefit to the older person is just over $1,000 a year, as the Part B premium represents more than 7 percent of their income.

Please contact your Senators and Congressmen and thank them for their continued support for the the QI program.

Thanks!
