Q: What is the I4A?
A: The Illinois Association of Area Agencies on Aging (I4A)
is a statewide advocacy body for aging services and policy
development. Membership is open to the thirteen area agencies on
aging located throughout the state of Illinois.
We take a comprehensive view of all programs and services for older
adults.
We are aware of the interdependency of all aging services and the
need to share information, provide education, and cooperate fully
for a more complete service system
We generate funding and interest with and beyond the public sector
in order to influence the design, delivery, funding, and promotion
of services. the professional association of the area agencies on
aging in Illinois.
Q: What do Area Agencies do?
A: Area Agencies on Aging develop, monitor, and maintain
coordinated systems of community based services within their
respective planning and service areas. These systems are designed to
assist older persons and caregiver to lead independent, meaningful
and dignified lives in their own homes and communities as long as
possible. Area Agencies carry out a wide range of functions related
to advocacy, planning, coordination, interagency linkages,
information sharing, brokering, monitoring and evaluation.
